FRIGHT NIGHT

If like me you were a fan of Tom Holland’s 1985 original “FRIGHT NIGHT” starring William Ragsdale, Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall and Amanda Bearse, then this film wont disappoint (massively), there are however some pretty glaring faults in it.
David Tennant is perfectly capable playing the modern incarnate of Peter Vincent a Las Vegas “Rock N Roll” Magician / self professed Vampire Slayer, the problem is the script for his character is nothing more than swear words which he strings together with an OK impression of Russell Brand.
Basically a world away from Roddy McDowells actor version of Peter Vincent but mildly entertaining nonetheless.
The film has its moments but the script is the main thing that lets it down. Colin Farrell clearly has a blast camping and Vamping it up but again his charecter isnt really fleshed out, likewise with McLovin (Sorry but that name will stick forever).
Anton Yelchin who ive been watching ever since he popped up in Curb Your Enthusiasm a few years back, is a charming and funny actor who has a great career ahead of him and leads this film well as main charecter Charlie, likewise Imogen Poots (Absolute Babe) who plays his main squeeze/damsel in distress Amy, the pair have great chemistry which couldve had a little more time to play out, but alas they hurry to the pay off/showdown with Farrells “Jerry”.
All in all a good modern popcorn “Horror” (i use that turn lightly”) as its more action/teen film than horror. but worth a watch if you can handle watching The Smurfs film.
